“The team plays a vital role in safeguarding the safety and well-being of employees, their next of kin, and the organization as a whole. Our primary mission is to prevent accidents, handle emergencies efficiently, and provide thorough follow-up to minimize injuries, damage, and losses,” explains Monika K. Steensland.

The Emergency Team is available 24/7 through a dedicated emergency phone number (+47 9828 6958), ensuring prompt assistance and support in the event of a crisis.

“The team, which consists of Karina Hovden Stava, Arne Gunnar Habbestad, Terje Aarekol, Petter Aalvik, Helge Tvedt, and Kjell Tore Helgeland, leads and coordinates the company’s emergency response efforts,” adds Steensland.

Part of a broader emergency preparedness initiative

Roles and responsibilities within Omega 365’s emergency preparedness framework are clearly defined to ensure everyone understands their role in maintaining a safe environment.

“Employees are responsible for maintaining safe working conditions, following instructions promptly, and keeping their personal and next of kin contact information up to date at all times. The Service Center is tasked with managing next of kin contact data, while department managers are responsible for locating employees during an emergency, contacting next of kin when needed, and delegating tasks as required,” explains Steensland.

The Emergency Team, in turn, is responsible for executing emergency protocols thoroughly, collaborating with external parties such as authorities, the media, or HSE officials as needed, and ensuring all information shared is accurate and consistent.

Handling incidents reported directly to the team

Another key area of focus for the Emergency Team is the management of incidents and injuries. Omega 365 has a robust system for reporting incidents, injuries, and near misses. All such cases must be recorded through the "New Incident" tool in the Omega 365 system, where details such as the date, a description of the incident, and proposed corrective actions are logged.

More serious situations classified as emergencies must be reported directly to the Emergency Team. Incidents are defined as situations causing injury, illness, loss of life, or significant damage, while injuries include absence-related injuries as well as minor first-aid cases.

“The Emergency Team at Omega 365 is built on a strong commitment to safety. We aim to ensure that employees are well-informed and prepared for emergencies through effective procedures and meticulous planning. Our goal is for employees to experience good welfare and feel secure in their workplace,” concludes Steensland.
