Intensive learning program

The learning experience was diverse and engaging, consisting of structured sessions, hands-on tasks, games, and even Kahoot quizzes. Participants were divided into three groups and tasked with developing their own app ideas. Each group was responsible for programming the app, designing its database, and presenting the project to Department Manager Jarle Gjerde. Adam Galal, system engineer, led most of the instruction, while Leif Hole, system developer, delivered specialized sessions on database performance tuning.
In addition to the group projects, two younger students worked on a separate initiative—developing and programming an ROV simulator designed for use with VR glasses.
Thomas, one of the participants, joined the team as a student employee in September, working one day a week with plans for full-time employment in the future. Another standout participant, Ragnhild, attended the camp while pregnant and gave birth just a month after it concluded. Despite the challenges, she demonstrated remarkable dedication, achieving the highest scores in both the SQL and Appframe Omega 365 exams. She has been promised a full-time position after her parental leave ends next summer.
Course leader Adam Galal expressed satisfaction with the program and its outcomes, stating:
“Overall, it was a rewarding and valuable experience for both the participants and me as an instructor—I learned a lot too! Coming from a different culture myself and knowing that sometimes one can be misjudged in the hiring process, I believe this approach enables us to select the best candidates who truly understand our culture at Omega 365 and are eager to work with us. It’s not just about interviews, but about observing their teamwork and performance throughout the sessions. This also benefits the community by allowing us to share our time and knowledge, while ensuring fair hiring decisions based on their performance over the weeks of training. At the same time, it gives participants the chance to evaluate whether Omega 365 is the right fit for them. The benefits are mutual.”
The camp, often referred to as "Camp Adam" by Jarle Gjerde, has become a valuable platform for nurturing both skills and relationships within the Omega 365 community.
